Gonzalo Higuain moved to AC Milan on loan from Juventus in the summer of 2018. Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Turin propelled Higuain to find a new club. Higuain has scored six goals for Milan in the Italian Serie A in 15 matches. But he has continually been linked with a move to Premier League side Chelsea. Alvaro Morata’s struggles at Stamford Bridge have fuelled the speculations much more.
AC Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso has now confirmed that Higuain has made up his mind to leave San Siro. Gattuso has said that he doesn’t understand that why Higuain is unhappy at the club but know that the Argentine wants to move on from Milan.
"When a player makes up his mind it becomes hard to convince them otherwise," said Gattuso of Higuain.
"I have a relationship with him that features great honesty, we say things to one another's face. At the moment, he's our player and we're holding on tightly to him. I don't know what will happen."
Higuain has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge for the last six months. It has been speculated that the striker wants to play for his former Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri and is hoping for a move to the Premier League. Higuain had his most prolific season under Sarri when he scored 36 goals in the 2015/16 season and created a Serie A record.
"I've talked to him a great deal but it's hard to give advice because the career of a player only lasts 13-14 years," continued Gattuso.
"It's his mind, not mine. The most important thing is to talk as men, look each other in the eyes and speak the truth.
"I still don't understand what Higuain's unhappy about because I see a happy lad, involved in the locker room. We'll see what happens. If it was up to me, I'd keep him at my house and feed him my dinner."
